Student Council

Parents, 5th grade students have the opportunity to join Student Council this year.  The purpose of Student Council is to provide student leadership, promote school spirit, and participate in service projects.  Our Student Council is responsible for Friday Spirit Days and other special dress up days.  Student Council also raises funds to support student activities such as Spelling Bee, Oral Interpretation, our annual talent show, and for the purchase of school equipment that will benefit Silva Valley students.  This year, students who participate in Student Council will also have an opportunity to be a part of the Silva Valley News, an in-house news broadcast that informs staff and students of upcoming events as well as showcases classes and students demonstrating school spirit.  

A meeting will be held during 5th grade’s first recess on Tuesday, August 17th to discuss what Student Council is about and what is required of them if they choose to participate. Meetings are typically held twice a month during 5th grade’s first recess  unless they are filming the Silva Valley news for the week.

If your child would like to participate, they will bring home a permission slip on August 17th and it is due back to me by August 27th.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send me an email at gsigrist@buckeyeusd.org.
